Our Approach to Your Care

Here at Leeson Park House Nursing Home we adopt the holistic model of care which puts the resident at the centre of everything we do. All of our resources and facilities are directed towards continuously enhancing the quality of life of each of our residents. We are committed to ensuring that the tenets of quality service and best practice become the key drivers for all of our endeavours whilst also ensuring that the latest developments and research in the field of gerontology and related disciplines are implemented throughout our homes.

Accommodation

Leeson Park House has 49 beds which are configured in ensuite single and shared accommodation while assisted bathrooms and shower suites are also available. Facilities include multi-channel TV, telephone access, and a comprehensive call bell system. Although the décor reflects contemporary themes, Leeson Park House continues to retain the ambience of a large stately home with a number of comfortable lounges, reading areas, optional dining facilities and also a carefully restored oratory. The magnificent gardens reflect the unique characteristics of the home and the surrounding environment.

Activities Programme

The home has a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator and the extensive programme of activities includes arts and crafts, music, exercise classes, reading circles, reminiscence therapy, bridge and other board games. 1-2-1 sessions are also an integral part of the daily programme. Off site trips and outings to places of interest, neighbouring theatres and local community facilities are regularly arranged. Leeson Park House has a vibrant residents committee which plays an active role in the life of the home.

Nutrition

The importance of nutrition is now firmly recognised in holistic care nutrition and we place significant emphasis upon offering menu options which are balanced and healthy and address the preferences of residents. Choices are offered at all sittings while menu cycles are continuously updated and expanded. Special dietary and medically based requirements are also specifically accommodated as our chefs have considerable experience in these areas. Refreshments and light snacks are always available.

Visiting

We operate an open visiting policy up to 21.45pm daily and there are a number of quiet areas where residents can relax with their relatives and friends.

History

The deeds of Leeson Park House date back to 1767 when it formed part of the estate of William Jones of Cullenswood. Robert Going Collins built the original house as a family home in 1864 and sold it in 1896 on the basis that its new owner “Shall not use …..or permit the premises or any part thereof to be used as a hospital, lunatic asylum, cemetery, poor house, school or college, convent or monastery”. From 1933 to 1988 Leeson Park house was a retirement home for ladies. It subsequently became a Nursing Home and was completely refurbished when it was acquired by Silver Stream in 2005.

Our Location

Leeson Park House is situated in Leeson Park, Dublin 6. The area is serviced by numerous Dublin Bus Routes including bus routes 46a (via Donnybrook), 44 or 48 (Via Ranelagh) and 11 & 18 (Via Crumlin). The Luas Green Line Ranelagh stop is also nearby. On site parking facilities are also available.
