Our Approach to Your Care
We adopt the holistic model of care which puts the resident at the centre of everything we do. All of our resources and facilities are directed towards continuously enhancing the quality of life of each of our residents. We are committed to ensuring that the tenets of quality service and best practice become the key drivers for all of our endeavours whilst also ensuring that the latest developments and research in the field of gerontology and related disciplines are implemented throughout our homes.
Accommodation
The home has 59 beds which are configured in ensuite single and shared accommodation while assisted bathrooms and shower suites are also available. Facilities include multi-channel TV, telephone access, computer facilities and comprehensive call bell system. Dining room options are available at two levels while there are a number of comfortable lounges and reading areas. The gardens have been carefully landscaped to preserve the character of the building and to compliment the local regeneration initiatives.
Activities Programme
St. Pappins has a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator and the extensive programme of activities includes arts and crafts, music, exercise classes, reading circles, reminiscence therapy and board games. 1-2-1 sessions are also an integral part of the daily programme. Off site trips and outings to places of interest, neighbouring theatres and local community facilities are regularly arranged. St. Pappins has a vibrant residents committee which plays an active role in the life of the home and which has been adopted as a model of advocacy in the other Silver Stream homes.

Nutrition
The importance of nutrition is now firmly recognised in holistic care nutrition and we place significant emphasis upon offering menu options which are balanced and healthy and address the preferences of residents. Choices are offered at all sittings while menu cycles are continuously updated and expanded. Special dietary and medically based requirements are also specifically accommodated as our chefs have considerable experience in these areas. Refreshments and light snacks are always available.
History
St. Pappin’s was originally part of the Domville Estate and in recent times a Catholic Church was built on the current site and served as a vibrant parish until the early 1990’s. Silver Stream acquired the site to develop a purpose built modern nursing home which opened in 2003. The outside façade was preserved and in 2008 St Pappins was awarded second place in the category of Best Old Building in Dublin in the Dublin City Council Neighbourhood Awards Scheme.
Ballymun is a thriving community which offers lots of amenities and services to residents living in the area. We are fortunate that we can take advantage of these developments. In additional to being adjacent to numerous shops, hotels and the HSE Primary Care Centre, St. Pappins is close to the Helix Theatre and the Botanical Gardens in Glasnevin.
Our Location
St. Pappins Nursing Home is located at the top of Ballymun Road near the Days Hotel. Dublin Bus routes 4,13 or 17a service the immediate area with bus stops near the entrance to the home. We are about 5 minutes away from the junction at Collins Avenue Extension and Ballymun Road. We also have enclosed on site parking for visitors.

Fees
Our schedule of fees is based upon the type of accommodation selected. All residential fees include full board accommodation, 24 hour nursing and ancillary support services including laundry and access to all on site facilities.
